ON WHEN AMENDMENT OF ORIGINATING PROCESS BECOMES EFFECTIVE
An amendment duly made takes effect from the date of the original document sought to be amended; and this applies to every successive further amendment of whichever nature and at whatever stage it is made. Therefore, when a writ of summons is amended, it dates back to the original issue of such writ and consequently the action would continue as if the amendment has been inserted from the beginning.
